Understanding Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) uses reverse-geometry rigid lenses worn overnight to temporarily reshape the cornea, providing clear daytime vision without glasses or contact lenses. By inducing peripheral myopic defocus, it plays a key role in modern myopia management, particularly in pediatric patients.

Corneal Reshaping

Specialized lenses gently mold the corneal surface overnight to correct refractive errors without surgery.

Daytime Liberty

Enjoy total visual freedom during daily activities, sports, and swimming without the need for glasses or daytime contacts.

Slowing Progression

Clinically proven to reduce the elongation of the eye, significantly slowing down myopia in pediatric patients.

Safe & Non-Invasive

Unlike laser surgery, the effect is completely reversible; the cornea returns to its original shape if lens use is discontinued.

Design Philosophy

In orthokeratology, tear reservoir design directly influences lens centration, corneal reshaping efficiency, and visual outcomes. PAUNELENS focuses on precise control of tear reservoirs to ensure predictable, safe, and reproducible clinical results across different patient profiles.

Hydrodynamic Forces

Precise management of tear film pressure under the lens to achieve optimal.

Sagittal Accuracy

High-level control over sagittal depth to ensure a perfect match between the lens geometry and the corneal profile.

Predictable Results

Engineered designs that minimize clinical trial-and-error, delivering consistent and reliable visual performance.

Reproducible Fitting

A standardized logic that allows for easy replication of successful fittings across a wide range of patient topographies.

KPCTP Fitting System

The KPCTP system is a distinctive fitting methodology shared by both 2R and 3R designs. It allows independent control of key parameters without affecting other zones, simplifying the fitting process while increasing clinical precision, safety, and predictability.

K — Corneal Reshaping

Manages central tear thickness and alignment to optimize reshaping efficiency.

TP — Target Power

Allows independent adjustment of refractive correction without altering the full design.

PC — Peripheral Control

Improves lens centration and stability through precise peripheral geometry.

Advanced Materials & Color ID System

PAUNELENS designs are manufactured using premium Acuity 200® and Contamac® materials, ensuring maximum oxygen permeability and exceptional mechanical stability for safe overnight wear. To further enhance clinical efficiency, we implement a specialized color identification system. By using distinct colors for right and left lenses, we simplify handling for the patient and reduce potential errors during daily practice, maintaining precise geometry and long-term dimensional consistency.

3R: The New Innovative Design

A Unique Fluorescein Pattern

The 3R design generates a distinctive fluorescein pattern with three peripheral landing zones, enabling precise evaluation of peripheral alignment and simplifying clinical interpretation.

3R includes flexible treatment options with two optic zone diameters to tailor peripheral defocus and treatment intensity.

Options:

MC (Advanced): 5.2 mm
MC+ (Enhanced): 4.7 mm

The design is based on the KPCTP system, ensuring consistency, adaptability, and reliable clinical performance.

Clinical Coverage
3R supports a wide range of indications, including:

Myopia up to –7.00 D
Hyperopia up to +4.00 D
Astigmatism up to –5.00 D
Post-LASIK corneas
